A friend had reached out a couple weeks back when all the tariff poop started hitting the fan. They had a nest egg they wanted to invest, and they needed to do so within the week. How about that timing, huh?
The conversation that inquiry sparked was one that went well beyond the mundane, front facing talk of investments.
I love the study of astrology, and I promise this ties in with our conversation about investing. I believe astrology is the code with which the Universe was written. It is so much more than one’s sun sign and a random weekly reading. All of the astral bodies have influence in our lives. Beyond that, the movements of the planets influences all life on this planet, and conceivably it is the same for all life on any galactic element, seen and unseen.
It is my belief that we have just witnessed the death of America as any of us have ever known it. What this current administration has done this term in less than 100 days is to ensure that we will never again be the empire upon which the rest of the world builds its infrastructure. The UN, and organization we built, is now divesting itself from us. Global banks are turning away from the Dollar as the gold standard for currency. And, world wide trade is finding alternatives to reroute through. Our empire is dead, and our lived reality is playing catch-up.
What a time to be investing!
I shared with my friend that we are in the slow transition between the Age of Pisces and the Age of Aquarius. We are in a 200 year shift(give or take) from collectively learning lessons of personal power, to that of learning lessons of group dynamics. Some spiritualists even think we are moving collectively from being centered in the Third Chakra(the solar plexus—that center of Self), to a time of feminine guided Heart Chakra experience. I’m a little more on the fence about that last one, but time will tell.
During this time in the Age of Pisces, exemplified by the Jesus myth, the Roman Empire was one of the dominant global forces—them, England, and finally, America. Some might even say, all of these empires could be considered one and the same! Some of the old prophecies shared that the Roman empire would last for over two thousand years, about how long it takes to move through one of the houses in the procession of the equinox. For one who tracks history, William the Conqueror could have been the tool that made those prophecies reality.
In the age of Taurus, Mesopotamia and Egypt were the pinnacles of human achievement. The age of Aries saw the Akkadian empire in its heyday. Each of these civilizations rode its arc of power and influence, then died. But, obviously, they also all still exist in some form. The monotheism widely practiced today has its roots in the Egyptian switch. Obviously millions of humans still practice Hinduism. So, when I say we have just witnessed the death of the American Empire I do not mean to imply that we will decay into dust, only that the world is moving on, and we will never again be the global giant we once were.
So, as we look to our investments, what does all this mean moving forward? Who will be the next global superpower? And, what are some of the trends we can potentially expect out of the Age of Aquarius as it pertains to societal movements?
First and foremost, I am not a certified investment specialist. I am not involved in banking in any way, other than with my own investments. I am also not a trained astrologer. I just spend a lot of time in these arenas. Please do not take these thoughts as gospel. These are just the musings that arose as we pondered what the best move would be for a nest egg in these volatile times.
The Age of Aquarius is one that folks speculate will be about the good of the gander, to put things in very simplified terms. For some, this will look like amplifying the voices of the marginalized beings in our society. It will be about shaping policies that consider the good of the whole, opposed to focussing on individual needs. This is an ethos that could help us humans to start considering the other life forms who we exist with on this planet. But, that group-think could also look like militarily enforced homogenization. It could be situations of forced assimilation to a standardized expression. In Star Trek terms, it could look very much like The Borg.
We are already seeing much of that in the social policies that America is starting to enforce. But, if this is the death of our nation, who will be the next global superstar?
I think it is Mexico.
We had been sharing about the volatile instability of this time, and how these are the moments that are not yet concretized. Our path forward is uncertain. Now is the time for dreamers, even if it feels difficult to dream a good dream. Because so much is sloshing around, because we stand at a crossroads of endings and beginnings, it is important to stay anchored to a vision of what we want for our futures, individually and collectively. So, we started sharing about the world we wanted to live in. Isn’t that what investing is really about for those of us who dream? What a great time to be putting our money behind people, places, and causes that might help us to realize the future of those dreams.
So, I started thinking about the nations who currently are primarily led by women and femmes, governments who are actively taking care of the most down-trodden of their societies, and also those who are strategically placed physically on the globe. As much as I love the dream, we would also be well served to invite in some reality. War and business are part of power, empire, and influence. If a nation wants to be a baller, it is very helpful to be well positioned physically.
At the moment, that leaves nations like Namibia, Iceland, and New Zealand. Of course, things are changing all the time, but these are at least nations who have recently embraced women in positions of leadership, and who, on average, have more equitable social and political policies between the genders.
But, Mexico was the one that stood out the most to me. Claudia Sheinbaum recently said the policies of her six year term will be predicated on The Poor First. From there, everything else flows. How very Aquarian! Also, she moved quickly to capitalize on America’s poor decision making by swooping up pivotal trade agreements with other nations. Since the U.S. is no longer a reliable global trade partner, she saw that her country was ideally positioned to take up the slack. She cut out the middle man, and opened up routes that will bring incredible prosperity to her country for years to come. Lastly, as the planet itself contemplates moving from Masculine Led to Feminine Guided, what more fertile ground for the rise of the next empire than land that embodies the Feminine!
For years, I have had a complex relationship with Mexico. Until recently, I have not really enjoyed my trips to the country. It is hot, and this polar bear does not love it. But, it’s also chaotic. The lines on the road are mere suggestions for how to proceed. The jungle is ever present, threatening to take back what humans have built at any moment. She is wild and unruly. She is fertile and destructive. She is inconstant.
Coming from America where everything is so masculine and rigid, it was always disruptive to my nervous system. I like knowing definitively the rules(even if it is so I can break them). That sense of constancy gives one a sense of security(even if it is a false sense). The lack of wildness here in the states, the Nature that we have tamed, allows for a sense of control, even if that sense is delusional.
Once I saw that the land itself was Feminine, I was finally able to find not just peace in my travels through Mexico, but I found a whole new appreciation for Her and what she provides. Lady Guadalupe. Corn Woman. Coatlicue. They all are exalted here.
As we look to the impending changes to both empire and consciousness on this planet, but also to things like changing landscape, weather patterns, and migration, I am putting my money on Mexico. She is our gateway to the next age.
